It’s a good thing they fixed the Windows Installer issues, I had a really hard time installing 2.2.2.

xVM VirtualBox has been updated to 2.2.0.

Just announcing the update now, I’ll be back with details soon.

SUN claims this is a “major” update and I’m inclined to agree with them.

VirtualBox 2.2.0 adds a few “heavy” features such as:
- host only networking mode (on Windows you’ll actually notice a new network adapter icon in the systray)
- OpenGL acceleration for Linux/Solaris guests
- OVF (a standardized format for packaging and distributing virtual appliances/software)
- higher memory limit for VMs (16GB on 64-bit)
- optimized hypervisor
- optimized default settings

xVM VirtualBox has been updated to 2.1.4.

Shared folders still don’t work out of the box with Windows 7 Beta guests, but I managed to get it to work by using this trick (via Fat Bloke):
- open Regedit (as administrator)
- navigate to this key and change the value to 0 (zero): HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet001\Services\VBoxGuest\Start
- reboot the Windows 7 guest
- create a shared folder
- Navigate to (or map to a letter) \\vboxsvr\SHARENAME

Sun’s xVM VirtualBox has been updated to 2.1.2.

It packs, among other stuff, several Windows 7 related fixes and additions.

Shared folders still don’t seem to work… However, unlike in 2.1.1, I’ve been able to access the host machine’s disks via a UNC-style path (\\HOST-IP\c$, in my case: \\10.0.2.2\c$).
