Update: CPU-Z 1.51 – NVIDIA ION Detection Support
CPU-Z 1.51 has been released with detection support for NVIDIA ION and a shiny installer that should theoretically speed-up the startup time (I wasn’t able to notice any difference on my system).
Frankly, the installer seems to be intended more like a way to include the Ask.com toolbar as an optional component. The developers fail to mention this on the CPU-Z homepage or in the changelog. There are 3 checkboxes you need to uncheck if you don’t want the toolbar in your system, so make sure you don’t just fast-forward through the installer.
Another option is to continue using the ZIP build, which doesn’t include any third party “surprises”. There must be something very alluring (for developers) about the Ask.com toolbar, since it keeps popping up in more and more software every day.
